EBAT Membership is governed by the following Terms & Conditions

EBAT aims to ensure that all members have a positive and enjoyable experience throughout their EBAT Membership duration. EBAT encourages all its Members to fully exercise all available services and opportunities offered in order to maximize and entirely enjoy benefits that EBAT Membership offers. The following terms and conditions are intended to state the responsibilities of, and clarify relations between EBAT and its Members.

General

1. EBAT Membership is open to individuals, companies, businesses and other organizations regardless of their location (Taiwan or abroad). Members do not have to be based in Taiwan in order to become a Member of EBAT.

2. Under EBAT’s SME and Corporate Membership type, EBAT Membership allows for company representatives to be entitled to access EBAT Member Benefits and Member Privileges. Please refer to EBAT Membership Types for details.

3. Annual membership term is based on the calendar year (January - December).

4. EBAT’s Membership period is based on the calendar year (1 January - 31 December) and typically start on the 1st of the month following the confirmation of receipt of payment. Fees for memberships signed from July 1st. will be pro-rated based on the remaining months in the current calendar year and added to the full membership fee of the following year.

5. EBAT Membership is for a minimum period of 12 months. Members will automatically be invoiced for membership renewal one (1) month prior to the expiration of the membership.

6. By submitting your Membership application form, you understand and consent that the data supplied will be held on EBAT’s computerized database and that from time to time, Members may be contacted by EBAT's carefully selected partners in order to make them aware of certain membership benefits and privileges. In most cases, EBAT will seek Members’ approval to share their data with third parties who may contact them with offers.

7. EBAT regularly communicates with its Members by e-mail, post and telephone. We aim to only approach our Members with information which we believe could be of interest to them. This is an integral part of the EBAT Membership and by proceeding with the Membership application, the applicant agrees to be contacted by EBAT.

8. EBAT utilizes e-mail as an official means of correspondence with its Members. It is imperative that EBAT Members agree to correspond on official chamber matters via e-mail.

9. Members are entitled and encouraged to take advantage of the various opportunities EBAT offers but there is no obligation or pressure to use any of the services provided by EBAT or EBAT’s partners. Any agreement between the Member and EBAT’s partners are strictly between the two parties and are not in any way the responsibility of EBAT.

10. As soon as your membership application is processed and approved, you will receive an e-mail with the membership fee invoice. Upon payment of the membership fee, you will receive an e-mail confirming the commencement date of your membership, requesting details of your company (logo, company description, etc.) for inclusion into EBAT’s database.

11. EBAT Membership fees are based on the number of employees in its Member’s organization. It is an expressed term of the membership agreement that the Member will inform EBAT about any changes in the number of employees or other vital aspects of the Member’s business. EBAT may consider applications for a higher category of membership on a case by case basis. Should there be changes to the Member's organization that affects the Member's current Membership Type, the Member undertakes responsibility to update their details and inform EBAT.

12. The Membership is subject to EBAT’s Board of Directors (BOD) approval and EBAT reserves the right to refuse Membership without disclosing any reason(s) for its decision.

13. EBAT shall have no liability for any losses suffered by a Member as a result of using services offered by a fellow EBAT Member. EBAT shall have no responsibility for advice given or services provided by its third-party service providers even though such providers may have been introduced to the Member by EBAT.

14. EBAT Membership is non-transferable. 

Resignation and Removal of Members

15. By submitting your EBAT Membership application, you are entering into a legal agreement to join EBAT. You may cancel the agreement by giving EBAT a written notice within 14 days of the date of membership application submission.

16. No cancellations will be accepted once membership payment is received, regardless of the 14 day grace period.

17. A member may at any time cancel EBAT Membership by giving at least three (3) months’ written notice (e-mail) to EBAT. If no such notice is received then unless the Board of Directors (BOD) resolves otherwise, the Member shall be liable for the subscription fee for each ensuing year, which shall be a debt due to and legally recoverable by EBAT.

18. A member may not be entitled to a refund of any dues paid to EBAT upon ceasing to be a member.

19. Unless the Board of Directors (BOD) shall resolve otherwise, a person shall automatically cease to be a member if:

19.1. Member defaults on paying any sum due to EBAT at the expiry of 30 days from its due date;

19.2. Member passes away;

19.3. Member is convicted of an indictable offense and is proven to be involved in criminal or fraud activity;

19.4. Being an individual an order is made in relation to their personal welfare or property and affairs under legislation relating to mental health or mental capacity;

19.5. In the case of a corporate or SME member, a resolution is passed or an order is made for its winding up or it is placed in liquidation or it ceases to exist.

20. A member may be suspended or expelled by the Board of Directors (BOD) present at a meeting of the Directors called to consider the case resolve for any reason whatsoever that the continuance of the membership of such person will be prejudicial to the interests of EBAT. This resolution shall be effective immediately. Any suspended or expelled member shall during such period of suspension or expulsion lose all privileges and benefits of membership of EBAT without prejudice to any claims that EBAT may have against him/her. The BOD Directors may agree to re-admit any suspended or expelled person at such time and on such terms as they may resolve.

21. If a person ceases to be a member under Articles 18 and/or 19 (other than by reason of death) that person shall be notified in writing by EBAT to that effect.

22. In the event of your membership being revoked, you agree that all association with EBAT will be ceased immediately. Furthemore, access to EBAT, its services and EBAT Membership Benefits and Privileges will be terminated and any advice sought after this date will be charged accordingly. The member agrees to surrender the EBAT Membership Card to EBAT within 30 days from notice of membership termination.

Annual Membership Fee

23. The annual Membership Fee payable by Members to EBAT shall be fixed at such rate or rates and shall become due and payable on such date or dates as the BOD Directors may from time to time resolve.

Membership Benefits, Privileges and Sponsorships

24. EBAT offers its Members the opportunity to stimulate business exchange within the EBAT membership base, by offering other members EBAT Member Privileges to be enjoyed exclusively. Offering these Privileges to other members brings additional exposure to Members’ businesses as well as it extends the brand awareness to that of EBAT’s Membership base and further, to its wider audience reach. Participating EBAT Members who are offering Privileges should indicate any blackout dates or terms of usage. 

25. Offered Privileges will be valid for period of Participating Members' membership with EBAT.

26. Redemption period of EBAT Member Privileges is only valid for period of EBAT Member's membership with EBAT. Privileges will not be available for redemption outside of membership period. 

27. EBAT organizes an approximate 30 events/activities annually. Members are encouraged to participate in co-hosting, sponsoring or providing a service, in order to leverage further publicity and marketing promotion arising from such events/activities.

Declaration

By submitting your completed EBAT Membership Application form, you are agreeing to the above Terms and Conditions. You acknowledge that you have completed the form to the best of your ability and confirm that the information supplied is accurate at the date of completion and will be valid for the duration period of your Membership with EBAT.

In the case of Corporate, SME or Honorary Membership, you also confirm that you have the authority to complete and sign this agreement on behalf of the company/business/institution/organization joining the Membership of EBAT European Business Association in Taiwan.

EBAT reserves the right to change these terms and conditions at any time without prior notice. In the event that any changes are made, the revised terms and conditions document shall be made available on EBAT’s communication channels. Members have the responsibility of regularly checking the latest information posted herein to inform themselves of any changes.
